IP Telephony Learning Materials FAQ

Q - Are the IP Telephony learning materials part of a Cisco Networking Academy course?

A - These learning materials do not form part of any current course and are available to all academies on request to the help desk.

Q - What are the learning materials for, if they don't form part of a course?

A - If an academy offers, or plans to offer, their own IP Telephony course, they may include the academy skills activities to enhance their own course or to offer a course in IP Telephony based on Cisco technology.

Q - Do I need special approval to review the IP Telephony learning material

A - You need to make a request to the Help desk, the theatre technical Manager (Michael Furminger) then approves access to the materials.

Q - Do I need special equipment to use these learning materials

A - Yes, the labs refer to a specific bundle of equipment. If you already own the equipment you can use that equipment. However if you require some components or the entire bundle, your local Cisco reseller or partner will be able to provide you with pricing and additional information.

Q - Where can I train to use the IP Telephony learning materials?

A - Initially training is being offered by the Alpha program trained academies, but any trained academy may offer the training.

Q - If the IP Tel learning materials are not part of a course why do I need to go to training before I teach these labs.

A - It is a quality standard that all skills activities are demonstrated by instructors before they teach them. In Europe and Emerging Markets we have agreed with the CATCs that this will be true for learning materials that have a skills component.

Q - What is the process for instructors/academies to complete the mandatory skills assessment ?

A - Complete a training course (typically 5 days) or pass the skills test at a trained academy (training provider)

Q - Are there any on-line components?

A – No, the IPT training materials are standalone and do not involve any online curriculum or tests.

Q - Who is responsible for IP Telephony within Cisco NetAcad team?

A - Since IP Telephony is not a course there is not a program manager. The theatre contact is the Technical Manager - Europe and Emerging Markets (Michael Furminger, mfurming@cisco.com)

Q - Who are the training providers ?

A – Any approved and trained academy that is willing to train other academy instructors and has the Cisco IP Telephony equipment.

Q - Who are the trained Alpha academies in CEE+D+CH+A?

A – See list. Comment: Not all listed academies offer training on a regular basis. Please feel free to contact the named persons directly or mail to Carsten Johnson carsjohn@cisco.com
